Screening for Adaptability and Resiliency

March 1, 2011
The complexity and pace of change in the current business environment has advanced rapidly in the past several years thanks to cybersecurity, terrorist attacks on American soil, the rapid collapse of financial markets and established institutions, and emerging competition from China and India. The list goes on and on. To deal with these dynamic challenges, organizations require talent who can anticipate change, develop innovative approaches to manage change, recover quickly from setbacks and work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. In other words, organizations need employees who are adaptable and resilient.
Although adaptability and resilience are almost universally accepted as important in business, there is no universal agreement on what these terms mean and how to measure them. Fortunately, research and best practices from the past two decades offer some answers to these questions.
Having an adaptable and resilient workforce is the result of three converging factors:
   1. Selecting employees with the right knowledge, skills, experiences and backgrounds.
   2. Providing the right training and development once on the job.
   3. Establishing an organizational environment that facilitates innovation and creativity.
In this equation, selection is a critical element. To paraphrase Jim Collins in Good to Great, you need to get the right people on the bus, in the right seats, before you can begin to move in the right direction.

Article 2 : Bad security moon rising

The cybersecurity world is awash in oceans of porn, blown water pumps and civil liberties rhetoric. Facebook was slammed with an attack recently that left some users reaching for a bottle of eye bleach, while hackers elsewhere apparently were able to temporarily control parts of a small public utility. Meanwhile, the DoJ sought new powers that could impact you if you ever use an assumed name anywhere online.
On Monday, AT&T (NYSE: T) Wireless announced that hackers used automatic scripts to target some subscribers in a bid to steal information stored in their online accounts. They apparently didn't succeed.
Hackers have breached security at utilities in Springfield, Ill., and in South Houston, Texas, in what might prove to be a sign of things to come.
Meanwhile, Norway's oil, gas and defense installations also were breached.
On the mobile front, security vendors are once again saying that Android is fast becoming a major mobile threat, echoing a warning that's growing all too familiar.
Cybermiscreants last week also made friending painful, flooding some Facebook users' accounts with porn and gore, eliciting complaints and, in some cases, cancellations.
Eager to come to grips with cybersecurity issues, the United States is seeking to criminalize violations of a given site's TOS on the one hand, and gunning for Chinese communications companies Huawei and ZTE on the other.

E Learning: Why Choose Online Education?

By John Thompson

The Internet boom is far from over, although it has been taking
a slightly different slant in the past few years; hardly
surprising as technologies advance and trends change. The World
Wide Web is the largest resource of information in the whole
world and whatever your needs the Internet can provide. What
started as a bubble has soon become a massive tidal wave and
online education is one of the areas that is still increasing,
probably more than ever before.

You can shop online, you can watch TV online, and you can even
book your holidays online or work online and now you can
complete perfectly legitimate and recognised educational
courses online. Far from being the alternative form of
education used solely by working parents it is becoming just as
popular with teenagers and professionals all around the world.
There are no boundaries to learning when using the Internet.
You can study a course that local colleges and educational
institutions in your area don't offer and you can do so without
having to quite your job and leave home.

You don't need to take three years to complete a course; you
can often work at your own pace, fitting in around your
commitments and according to your spare time.

What courses are on offer?

As well as courses designed primarily for completion on the
Internet, many educational institutions are now leaning towards
offering the major courses to be completed in the comfort of
your own home. College degrees and graduate degrees are
available in almost any subject you could imagine with many
benefits over the traditional 'classroom' approach.

E-learning offers a vast array of topics too, from American
History to Zoology and everything in between. Perhaps you are
in full time employment and want a change in career. Not many
of us can afford to just give up work and go back to college so
online education could be the perfect answer.

Maybe you are unemployed and can't find work suitable for you
or the qualifications and experience you have. Online education
can offer you the opportunity to gain more qualifications
without the expenses of travelling or accommodation.

Why should I choose an online education course?

There are many advantages to online education. The courses are
usually tailored to meet the different demands that are
entailed within an online learning community. You are usually
free to study at your own time and pace, so you have the
opportunity to complete your chosen course quickly or as slowly
as you want.

There are no travel costs involved with online education and no
travel time whatsoever. The only time you will need to dedicate
to your learning will be the time you spend studying and any
trips to the library or other institution you may need.

Many jobs and careers demand a good working knowledge of the
Internet, and by completing your course online you are already
many steps closer to that end. You will have excellent
knowledge on Internet research; always being able to find the
information that is useful to you.

There are some factors you should consider when deciding
whether to opt for online education or a more traditional
classroom education. You will need a reasonably up to date PC,
together with an Internet Connection. Fortunately, computer
prices have dropped in recent years, so you can get a capable
PC for little more than $300. If you consider using Ebay or
buying a refurbished PC then you can reduce this price even
more. Don't forget, you will need a printer, operating
software, word processing software and an Internet connection
but again the price of these has dropped dramatically.

If you don't have much working knowledge of a computer or the
Internet you will need to find your way around at first and
this can seem a daunting task for the beginner. Don't panic,
just stick with it and buy yourself (or borrow from friends or
the library) books on how to use the software you are going to
need. Once online the Internet has all of this information at
hand, and the world becomes your playground.

A summary of online education

Online education can help all people from all walks of like
gain the education they want to better themselves or to advance
in the career they already have. Whether you are a working
parent or an unemployed bachelor, there are courses available
for you to complete through online education.

Online education offers many benefits and few pitfalls when
compared to the more traditional 'classroom' approach but you
should carefully consider your options before jumping in.

There are costs associated with virtually all online education
courses but these are usually little more than the costs to
study at a college and when you consider that there are no
travelling expenses and no extra living costs, you may find
online education to be a much more financially viable option.

Okay lets move on, in these few months what is really attract my interest is debate. Now I can say that debating is my hobby. Everyone in this world can debate, what makes it different is their commitment towards the debate. Yes you need to like debating then you can make a move on this field and give full commitment. Debating give me full satisfaction where I can stand up with my opinion and nothing else but only standing for the truth. From debate you can learn many thing such as how to improve your confidence level, how to speak infront of people and you also improve your matter on recent and global issue. In these past few weeks, my dearest classmate Mimi and Farobi had enter an debate competition that been held in UiTM Kampus Bandaraya Melaka that is Indapendence Cup. Alhamdullilah. That was the first time ever we’re debating and we’d made to the final and get 1st runner up

Then I’ve been offered to go to debate tournament where it been held at UPM Serdang on our Raya’s holidays so I’d to sacrificed my holidays for debate but it’s worth it for me.
Serdang Open Debate

this is not my doodling btw
Besides debating, doodling also one of my interests. Whenever I feel free the thing that I like to do is doodling but my doodling still need to be improved. When I’m doodling I can use my imagination in the high level it's like dream come true when you can just state what you like in the piece of paper ;D Cool yo ! What is doodles? Accoroding to wikipedia doodle is an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes. Stereotypical examples of doodling are found in school notebooks, often in the margins, drawn by students daydreaming or losing interest during class. Other common examples of doodling are produced during long telephoneconversations if a pen and paper are available.hihihi.  That's why my books are full with such cute emoticons ;D The headers is my doodling btw :)

About me :) Yes me, Shima hamid in action.

Nur Maizatul Shima Binti Abdul Hamid Such a lovely name given by my father Abdul Hamid Bin Talib and my dearest mother Normah binti Abdul Rahman. Let’s talk randomly about me. My B.O.D is on 7th August 1992 which clearly knows that I’m 19teen years old right now. And obviously I’m cuter than cupcakes yo ;D Mersing, Johor is the place where everything start, which the place my mom and dad get marry, my mom give birth of me and the place which I stay until now. That will be the most memorable place for me but now the place which I currently stay is Melaka. Yes Melaka Bandaraya BERSEJARAH and it’s to historical enough for me. It’s not my own willing to be there but as been selected to further my studies at UiTM Kampus Bandaraya Melaka in Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Human Resource. Cool yeah. Before I’m move on let’s talk a little bit about UiTM. When it comes to the UiTM everybody has knew it because UiTM is quite well known among others universities in Malaysia. To be selected as one of the family members of UiTM have make me proud enough. I’ve already grasped a big hope on UiTM to turn me into something that can change my whole life entirely. That provides me chances and small success. With that small success, I’ll change it into a bigger success and simultaneously bringing UiTM name towards the peak. From that peak, we’ll see how the world works and together we fight for other chances that might come.

My foundation life.

UiTM is not something new for me because I did my foundation at UiTM Shah Alam In pre-law *hell yeah its weird why I doesn’t came out as a bachelor legal studies student rather than as a Business Administration student. Here goes, people have their informed choice so do I. I must think the best for my future and I think by taking Human resources rather than legal studies would make me a better person in future *err motif -.-‘ UiTM have given me much of memorable and priceless experience before when I did my foundation and what I’m hoping I’ll be giving more opportunities, more excitement, more lesson, and a pinch of determination along my way with you UiTM. Yes you, UiTM Dihatiku
